Overcrowded

I believed it is the holiday season that is making the streets full of people.

It is very crazy when one has to squeeze through the crowd, take 5 seconds to advance 1 meter and move within a personal space of less than 40cm X 40cm square.

For the past week, i happened to be at or walked through Orchard Road, Marina Square, Suntec City, Bugis Junction, Vivocity and even Toa Payoh Central and seems like half the nation's population is out on the street. And i got rather annoyed having to deal with the crowd.

Even at Zouk and St. James Power Station on weekends and eve of holiday, full house signs were up on the entrances even at 2am and there were still queues outside waiting...

Oh well, this is Singapore!

That when we were in Bintan, it appeared deserted to us when we could hardly see any crowd, that the restaurant only has less than 10 people (which included 5 of us), that the beach, the pool only has us, despite it was the December peak period.

Maybe we were so used to the 4th rank in the world for population density country, that when we were exposed to space, we would inevitably feel lonely.

I wonder how it will be like when the population grows to 6.5 million which was what the policy-makers are using it as at a benchmark for future blueprint to develop Singapore.

Perhaps by then, empty seats are rarity on buses/MRT (especially when taxi fares are increasing), shopping centers have quota and entrance gates to control the crowd, one has to book a slot or appointment to visit any public places, or it would be easier to eat at home or take away at restaurants/eateries.....
